Reset

It’s been a while since I’ve payed attention to this site. I lose interest in writing when I get overwhelmed with life, but writing remains the most effective outlet to process my thoughts and emotions. I archived my previous posts to start fresh. They may eventually resurface as relevant, but for now I just needed a reset.

This weekend I traveled to Washington D.C. for The People’s March. Being surrounded by people as angry and fed up as me was empowering. Coming back to people who still don’t understand the consequences of our current political situation is devastating. Our government leaders have manipulated the education system and segregated people who are different from one another for one reason: to keep us ignorant. If we don’t know enough, we can’t stop them from corruption. And this isn’t new. This has been building for decades. And somehow even though we can all agree on that, there are still too many that believe that moving us further right is the solution. I don’t know how to fix that.

The American Dream is a lie. I mourn loss of the country I grew up believing was ‘the best,’ and worry that we may never come together to build the nation we are owed. I’m not new to this party but I am overdue in showing up to do something.

Andie

Black and white photo of Andie Mosley. She is wearing a black bowler hat, with long hair. She is looking off-camera, to the top right. Her arm is rested on the back of her head.
Autistic. Uncomfortably self-aware. Politically exploring (further left than liberal, but still figuring it out). Painfully compassionate. Angered easily by injustice and lack of critical thinking. Proud Millennial. Appalachia born, midwest inhabitant.

With everything going on in the world, I’m overwhelmed with thoughts. I am writing them down to get them out there. If nobody reads this, I will have at least had some catharsis. But maybe you will read some of my thoughts and see things in a new perspective, or at least know you’re not alone.
